Welcome to Auberge de Sandarville, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of the French countryside, specifically at 14 Rue de la Sente aux Pretres, 28120 Sandarville, France. This fine dining restaurant embodies the spirit of gourmet French country cooking, set within a beautifully restored 15th-century farm that effortlessly channels the charm of yesteryear. With wooden beams overhead, large inviting fireplaces, and an array of copper pots lining the walls, the ambiance here is as delightful as the food itself.
As you step through the doors, you're greeted not just by the rustic decor, but by an inviting atmosphere crafted by the restaurant's owner and gracious host, Denise, who has passionately served her culinary creations for over 35 years. Her attention to detail and genuine hospitality shine through, making every dining experience feel personal. Here, communication may occasionally dance between languages, but the warmth of service transcends any barrier.
The menu at Auberge de Sandarville is a vibrant celebration of local flavors. Diners rave about the enchanting combination of foie gras with citrus sauce and veal with tarragon cream sauce, showcasing the essence of traditional French cuisine. Each dish is a masterpiece, telling a story that pairs beautifully with carefully selected wines. The beef, for example, comes with a sauce deemed to reach "11" on the flavor scale, while the hollandaise accompanying the fish has also garnered high praise. The experience culminates in the Grand Marnier soufflé, a breath of sweet perfection that lingers in the memory long after the last bite.
The location might be remote, but it's worth every minute of the drive. Patrons report that the culinary journey outweighs any inconvenience, leaving behind not just full stomachs but also happy hearts. As Richard Haven said, "this is what gourmet French country cooking is all about." Whether you're enjoying canapés before your meal or delightful treats dessert afterwards, each moment spent at Auberge de Sandarville is designed to indulge the senses.

This is what gourmet French country cooking is all about. In a restored house that is probably 500 years old, are charming dining tables among paintings from various times, water kettles, and tea pots. No English was spoken or understood by the staff, and we were using Google translate as fast as we could and trying to remember cognates. Eventually, we ordered: beef, fish, and shrimp Bloody marvelous. Simply marvelous. A beef sauce that goes to 11. A hollandaise for the fish was, apparently, wonderful (for those who like that sort of thing). The St. Marcelin cheese herself had for dessert was, again observationally, was sublime, and the SB was appreciated (I had a taste and, indeed, it has great mouth-feel) Once the owner saw that we loved her food, she warmed up and helped us figure out what we needed. She also brought canapes before and dessert yummies afterwards The location is remote; don't be worried. It's worth the drive

Truly a French experience in this charming 15th century farm turned into country restaurant with wooden beams, large fireplaces and copper pots everywhere. Each dish was wonderful! Foie gras with citrus sauce, veal with tarragon cream sauce and risotto, soufflé at the end! And served by our gracious host and owner Denise who has been there for over 35 years. Just 15 minutes down a country road off the highway between Chartres and Paris.

The best restaurant in France : one of the last where you will feel the real French spirit here, exactly like if you were living in the 60s: excellent and fine gastronomical experience, large quantities, perfect wines, and incredible traditional atmosphere. The owner is always present and she is fantastic. Thank you 1000x for existing and keeping this "taste of France"

True delightful hospitality and kindness and better than all the food I had in Paris the prior week. The turbot fish was incredibly fresh. Lots of little delightful touches and great hostess. Left us with a bag of treats for our baby son. This is a little country place so be kind to them!

Fabulous lunch for Mother's day at a very reasonable menu price of 39€ considering all we got to eat and the super quality. Very tasty entrées with choice of foie gras, aubergine salad, tartar of St Jacques followed by succulent duck, tornados and fish in sauce cooked to a tee. The Grand Mariner soufflé was to die for. Lots of extras before, during and after to round off a great meal. Excellent service and lovely atmosphere in auberge.
